Certified Business Analysis Professional or CBAP is a professional certification program in business analysis. This program is ideal for professionals who have the extensive business knowledge and have years of experience in the practical business world.

CBAP certified professionals have higher compensation, and earn up to 13% more being CBAP certified.

CBAP Eligibility

  • Complete a minimum of 7,500 hours of Business Analysis Work experience in the last 10 years.
  • Within this experience, a minimum of 900 hours completed in 4 of the 6 BABOK® Guide Knowledge Areas, for a total of at least 3,600 of the required 7,500 total.
  • Complete a minimum of 35 hours of Professional Development in the last 4 years.
  • Provide two references.
  • Agree to Code of Conduct.
  • Agree to Terms and Conditions.
  • Pass the exam.

Online Remote Proctored Exams – PSI Web Delivery (for all IIBA exams)

  3. Contact PSI technical support at http://clientportal.softwaresecure.com/support/ for further assistance with system requirements or for additional support for firewall or vpn restrictions.
  4. Ensure that you will have the acceptable identification with you on the day of the exam.
  5. To Schedule Your Exam

Login with your IIBA credentials and select Certification > My Certifications. Click the Schedule and Pass Exam button. This will take you automatically to the PSI exam scheduling page, where you can schedule your exam:

  1. Select the “Schedule Exam” button
  2. Select language, country where you will be taking the test, and the time zone
  3. Select date and time
  4. A confirmation will pop-up to verify the date and time
  5. Select “Continue” and your Booking (Schedule) is created
  6. You will be directed to the “View Details” page for Security Procedures, Required Identification Documents and Exam Instructions
  1. Use “View Details” page also to Reschedule, Cancel Schedule or Launch the exam

On The Exam Day

  1. Gather your acceptable identification.
  2. Review the PSI Exam FAQs and the PSI Remote Proctored Candidate Experience video if you haven’t done so previously. UPDATE TO VIDEO: Only ONE monitor can be used for the exam, multiple monitors are not allowed.
  1. Login up to 30 minutes before start time to begin check-in procedures. Use your IIBA credentials and select Certification > My Certifications. Select the Schedule and Pass Exam button. This will take you automatically to the PSI exam page.
  1. Review the information (security procedures, acceptable identification, exam instructions) to ensure you are set up properly to launch your exam.
  2. The Proctor will guide you through the process and check you in at your scheduled start time.
Special Rules for CCBA/CBAP Exams:
  1. You are allowed one 15-minute maximum break (i.e. away from Proctor view) during the exam.
  2. The exam timer will continue to run on the exam while you are on break. You will not be given extra time.
  3. If you are not back within 15 minutes, the exam is considered ‘abandoned’. ‘Abandoned’ means your exam is terminated and you cannot resume the exam. You will forfeit the exam and the exam fee. To take the exam at a later date, you will have to pay the full exam fee again.
  4. A PSI online calculator will be available on your screen during the exam.
  5. You are allowed to have the following with you in the room:
  • Clear water bottle with no labels on it
  • Blank paper (8.5×11”) or white board (8.5×11”) to make notes during your exam (note: Proctor will ask that you tear up the paper and erase the whiteboard before ending the exam)

NOTE: If you require more than what is allowed for an exam, please request a special accommodation prior to paying the exam fee. Consult the Special Accommodations section on this page.

Cancellation and Reschedule Policy

You will have 12 months from the day IIBA received your exam or exam rewrite fee to request a refund.

After such time, your exam or exam rewrite fee payment will become non-refundable and you will forfeit your payment. This means that to schedule and sit the exam, you will need to repay the exam or exam rewrite fee.

Refund process within the 12 months eligibility period:

To receive a refund of the exam or exam rewrite fee payment, you must first cancel your scheduled exam, and then e-mail the refund request to [email protected]

If you miss your scheduled exam date without cancelling or rescheduling in advance, you will be considered a no-show. This means you will have to forfeit your exam fee or exam rewrite fee already paid (unless there is an extenuating circumstance) and, will have to repay the exam fee or exam rewrite fee to schedule and sit the exam.

To cancel or reschedule your exam, login with your IIBA credentials and select Certification > My Certifications. Click the Schedule and Pass Exam button. This will take you automatically to the PSI exam scheduling page.

You can then select the Cancel Schedule or Reschedule button.

Recertification Steps

To recertify for your designation, you must earn a minimum of 60 Continuing Development Units (CDUs) every three years from your Date of Certification and complete the following goals:

  1. Earn a minimum of 60 Continuing Development Units
  2. Enter your hours into the BA Development Log
  3. Pay recertification fee
  4. Submit recertification application
  5. Receive a confirmation email from IIBA – Congratulations! You are Recertified!

Recertification fee: Member: $ 85 Non-Member $125 (3 Years from the certification date)

Professional Development

Professional Development activities include the following:

  1. Classroom Course (courses, seminars, workshops)
  2. Chapter Event (meetings, events)
  3. Chapter Study Group
  4. Conference Workshop (key notes, tracks, workshops)
  5. Online Course (courses, live webinars)
